The entertainment industry in Mexico is in mourning following the confirmation of the death of Ricardo de Pascual at the age of 85, a beloved figure in national television.
The news was announced shortly after midnight on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, by the Asociación Nacional de Actores (ANDA) through a brief message on social media.
“The National Association of Actors mourns the passing of our colleague Ricardo de Pascual. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. Rest in peace.”
So far, no official details about the cause of death have been revealed, which has created uncertainty among his fans and colleagues.
Death confirmed without details about his health

The actor’s son, Ricardo de Pascual Jr., also confirmed the news by sharing a black ribbon on his Instagram profile, though he did not provide further details.
In recent months, the actor’s health had become a topic of discussion after he revealed in October 2025 that he suffered from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

During that interview, the actor appeared using an oxygen tank, reflecting the impact the illness had on his quality of life.
“I have COPD because I didn’t understand that smoking is harmful. I smoked for 20 years when I was young; I’ve been smoke-free for 45,” he said at the time.
Ricardo de Pascual’s battle with illness did not stop his passion
In the same conversation, the actor explained that his condition was linked to years of smoking, a habit he developed during his early work in theater.
“I learned to smoke in a play and the habit stuck (…) later it became too much, up to three packs a day,” he recalled.
He also mentioned dealing with other health issues related to his spine, heart, and kidneys.
Despite this, his commitment to acting remained strong, and he made it clear he had no plans to retire as long as he could continue working.

“I don’t see myself away from work; work gives me life,” he said, showing his deep connection to his profession.
He added: “I don’t plan to retire as long as I can move; when I can’t, I will. I don’t want to be pitied,” a phrase that now resonates with his followers.
Ricardo de Pascual was born on August 21, 1940, and built a career spanning more than 65 years in television, film, and theater.
His face became familiar to generations thanks to his participation in shows such as Chespirito, El Chavo del 8, El Chapulín Colorado, and Vecinos.
