What began as a celebratory trip turned into a long immigration battle for Bryan José Rojas Galofre, a 34-year-old Venezuelan immigrant married to a U.S. citizen.
According to a report by Noticias Telemundo, a honeymoon in Florida led to his arrest, nearly three months in ICE custody, and a complicated financial situation for his family.
The case has drawn attention because of the circumstances that led to Rojas’ detention and the suspicions he faced during the immigration investigation process.
Rojas traveled from Wisconsin with his wife, Socorro Zaragoza, to spend their honeymoon at Trump National Doral in Florida.

According to Noticias Telemundo, Zaragoza identifies as a supporter of President Donald Trump.
The couple hoped to enjoy a few days of rest and also possibly see the president up close during a Republican event held at the hotel in January 2025.
However, their plans changed when they arrived at a security checkpoint to enter the complex.
During the inspection, agents found a BB gun and a metal marijuana grinder inside the vehicle.
After the discovery, both were arrested by local police.
Bryan Rojas was later placed under immigration investigation, a situation that marked the beginning of a process that would last several months.

According to Rojas himself in comments to Noticias Telemundo, an important part of the questioning was related to his tattoos.
Among them were a crown, a Chinese dragon, and dollar-sign symbols.
The Venezuelan man said authorities began asking questions about a possible connection to criminal organizations.

“They took me out of the car, checked my tattoos, and started asking me if I belonged to a gang,” he said.
After being detained by ICE on his honeymoon, he was transferred to a federal detention center in Miami.
He remained there for nearly three months while authorities verified possible links to criminal groups.
During that period, the process focused on determining whether there was any relationship between Rojas and criminal organizations.
Defense Rejects Criminal Links
Bryan Rojas’ attorney, Tahimi Rengifo, questioned the basis for the suspicions her client faced.
According to her, authorities’ doubts were based on generalizations associated with the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.
Rengifo argued that there were no elements that justified a measure of such magnitude.
“Bryan had no criminal record and had not committed any crime that justified this level of action,” she said.
The case had consequences beyond the immigration process.
According to the Noticias Telemundo report, the situation caused an economic crisis for the family, the effects of which continue after Rojas’ release.
What was supposed to become a special honeymoon memory ended up turning into an experience marked by detention, an immigration investigation, and financial difficulties stemming from several months of uncertainty.
