According to the EFE news agency, U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday addressed the rumors of his alleged death that spread widely on social media over the weekend.
In a meeting with the press at the Oval Office, the president called the claims “fake news” and stressed that there was no basis behind the comments, which generated more than 1.3 million interactions on digital platforms.
“Well, it’s fake news. It’s so… so false. That’s why the media has so little credibility,” Trump said in response to a reporter’s question.
The president explained that in recent days he had stayed out of the public eye because he took advantage of the Labor Day holiday to rest and play golf, something that may have fueled speculation about his health.

“I knew they were saying things like, ‘Is he okay? How’s he feeling? Did something happen?’ And I was like: ‘I just came from there,’” the president joked, referring to the messages he saw online.
Trump also clarified that, although he stayed away from the cameras for two days, he remained active with interviews, media appearances, posts on his Truth Social platform, and visits with friends at his golf club.
He reminded reporters that Monday was Labor Day, a national holiday in the United States, which in his view explained why he had no public events.
The rumors about Donald Trump’s supposed death began spreading after images circulated showing a bruise on his right hand.

The White House had already acknowledged in July that the president suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that sometimes requires him to use makeup.
Added to that was the fact that he gave no speeches or public appearances over the weekend, giving space to unfounded theories about a supposed decline in his health.
A photograph of Trump leaving the National Golf Club in Virginia—smiling and wearing a white cap with the word “USA”—fueled further debate online.
Some users even speculated that the image was not recent or was doctored, despite the president continuing to share posts on Truth Social as usual.
Trump, Death Rumors, and Digital Misinformation

Trump took the opportunity to contrast the situation with that of his predecessor, Joe Biden, whom he criticized for going long stretches without press conferences during his presidency.
“(Joe) Biden wouldn’t do press conferences for months. You wouldn’t see him. And nobody said something was wrong with him. And we know he wasn’t in the best shape,” the president said.
He also recalled that Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and emphasized that no social media scandal of this magnitude ever arose around him.
The president concluded that social media is responsible for amplifying false theories and that this episode is another example of the misinformation circulating online.
Trump’s Public Defense
The president insisted that during the weekend his schedule did not stop and that he continued participating in private and media activities.
He noted that he gave an interview lasting more than an hour and a half, appeared on several programs, and maintained his presence on Truth Social with widely shared posts.
Trump also highlighted that he spent time with close associates at the golf club, which he argued demonstrated there were no health problems to justify the rumors.
“I was very active over the weekend,” the president emphasized, promising to maintain his usual pace of communication to dispel any doubts about his physical condition.
