- It’s the long-awaited pick-up truck from Tesla
- Musk stated that the body is bulletproof
- Its windows are impact-resistant against rocks
The basic version of Tesla’s long-awaited pick-up truck, Cybertruck, will have an initial price of $60,900 in the United States.
This was announced on Thursday by the electric car manufacturer, as reported by the Efe news agency.
The price release coincided with an event at the Tesla assembly plant in Austin, Texas.
During the event, the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, delivered several units of the vehicle to its buyers.
Cybertruck, Tesla’s highly anticipated pick-up
Musk stated that the Cybertruck’s body, made entirely of stainless steel, is bulletproof, and its windows can withstand the impact of a rock.
This time, Elon Musk did not demonstrate the resistance of the truck’s body or its windows.
When he first presented the Cybertruck in 2019, the entrepreneur claimed that the vehicle’s windows were bulletproof.
However, when he attempted to demonstrate the truth of his words on stage, the glass disintegrated after being hit by an object, to the incredulous gaze of Musk and the audience.
Available versions of the Cybertruck
According to information published on Tesla’s website, several versions will be available, in addition to the basic rear-wheel-drive version of the Cybertruck.
The pick-up truck will be available with four-wheel drive, priced at $79,900.
It will also have a higher-power model called Cyberbeast, which will cost $99,900.
The prices are much higher than what Musk announced in 2019 when he claimed that the basic version of the truck would cost around $39,900.
Reveal when it will be available
Musk also stated back then that the Cybertruck would begin deliveries in 2021, which ultimately did not happen.
However, the company only started producing some units from July of this year.
The rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck will be available in 2025, with an estimated range of 400 kilometers.
Meanwhile, the four-wheel-drive version will begin deliveries in 2024 with a range of 550 kilometers.
