Nicky Jam Trump: Withdraws Support After Public Controversy

It seems that the comment made by a comedian at a rally, calling Puerto Rico a «floating garbage island,» came at a high price.

Now, singer and songwriter Nicky Jam has retracted his support for Donald Trump in his bid for the U.S. presidency.

Hispanic influencer Carlos Espina shared this news.

Nicky Jam “Already Regretted It”

Through a video on his official Instagram account, Carlos Espina gave more details about the decision Nick Rivera Caminero made.

Espina, unable to hide a smile, first commented that Nicky Jam withdrew his support for Donald Trump.

“The reason I supported Donald Trump was because I thought it was best for the U.S. economy, where many Latinos live.”

The music producer believed that Trump, as a “businessman,” was “the best move.”

In another part of the video, which Carlos Espina listened to closely, the singer said:

“I never in my life thought a comedian would come and criticize my country (Puerto Rico) and speak badly of it.”

For this reason, Nicky Jam “resigned” from any support for Donald Trump, also stating that he’s stepping away from political matters.

“Puerto Rico deserves respect,” concluded the singer of hits like Piensas en mí and Insomnio.

Carlos Espina commented that this video shows Nicky Jam is “quite ignorant” when it comes to politics.

“First, because Donald Trump was not good for the economy, and second, I don’t understand why he’s surprised they insulted Puerto Rico.”

The Hispanic influencer added that he’s glad Nicky Jam recognized his error and withdrew his support.
