Myrka Dellanos spoke at length for the first time about her exit from La Mesa Caliente, the Telemundo program from which she was fired in October 2025.
The journalist gave an interview to Juan Manuel Cao, in which she detailed the events that, according to her account, led to her dismissal from the show.
Dellanos explained that everything began after an on-air comment she made regarding the relationship between the Mexican government and drug trafficking.
From her perspective, that moment marked a breaking point with the production team and with some of her co-hosts.
Myrka Dellanos’ Comment That Sparked the Controversy

During the interview, Myrka recalled that she was reading a news item related to the United States and Mexico.
“I was reading one of the news stories about how the U.S. government, after Trump had already won, had designated Mexico as a narco-state,” she recounted.

She then added a personal remark based on opinions she said she had heard from Mexican friends, which caused discomfort on set.
“When I made the comment, the girls were horrified and made it seem as if I was talking about the people,” she stated.
Internal Reactions and Consequences
Dellanos said she was unable to finish her argument and that the situation was framed as a generalized attack against Mexicans.
According to her version, in internal meetings some members of the production staff agreed with her perspective, but no one was willing to express it publicly.
“My friends told me that there was a lot of drug-trafficking money invested in Claudia Sheinbaum’s election,” she claimed.
After that episode, she said she was taken off the air for several days and faced work restrictions within the network.
Measures Myrka Dellanos Described as Pressure
The journalist stated that she was prohibited from maintaining her YouTube channel while remaining linked to the program.
“They started doing a series of things so they could eventually have some kind of excuses,” she commented.
On the day of her dismissal, she says she was asked to collect her belongings under the argument of an internal restructuring.
“I laughed because I asked, restructuring what?” she recalled.

Ideology and Editorial Differences

Myrka also connected her exit to her political stance and her rejection of communism.
“It seems they didn’t like it and wanted to follow a line where many of the things being said were not giving the public the correct information,” she said.
For the broadcaster, there was a clear divide between her journalistic judgment and the program’s editorial narrative.
She said that gap continued to grow until her stay on the show became unsustainable.
The Luis Miguel Topic Resurfaces
During the conversation with Cao, the subject of her past romance with Luis Miguel also came up.
“There was a moment when I got the impression that you had given up your career for love,” the interviewer suggested.
Myrka categorically denied that version and directly pointed to María Celeste Arrarás as the source of the rumor.
“That’s not true… she said on her program that I had quit because of love,” she asserted.
Clarifications About Myrka Dellanos’ Exit from Univision
Dellanos explained that her departure from Primer Impacto was a professional decision, not a romantic one.
“I had already been on Primer Impacto for 10 years and wanted to do other projects,” she explained.
She clarified that she went on to host En exclusiva con Myrka Dellanos after reaching an agreement with the network.
“I didn’t quit; I left after completing my 10 years,” she emphasized.
A Wound That Left Its Mark
The journalist acknowledged that those statements affected her professionally.
“It was something false that sadly spread,” she said, noting that there was never a public retraction.
Even so, she stated that she holds no grudges and prefers to leave the matter in the past.
“I don’t hold grudges, but I definitely know that people believed that, and it wasn’t true,” she said.
María Celeste’s Response

María Celeste responded to Myrka’s statements through Las Top News.
“We remember that story differently, but it’s okay,” she said.
She assured that she never intended to harm her and that she feels deep affection for her.
“When she left Telemundo, I was one of the first to call her to offer my support,” she concluded.
