Governor Jeff Landry confirmed he is coordinating with law enforcement.
“I am aware of the shooting at the Mall of Louisiana,” he wrote on X.
“I am coordinating with authorities and will update as more information becomes available. Please avoid the area.”

The Baton Rouge Police Department indicated that the shooting was not a random act.
It was reportedly a confrontation between two groups.
The attack took place in the mall’s food court area.
