A resident of southern Maine reported being threatened by an agent of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during an operation at his home.
The incident was captured on video and later shared on social media, generating concern over the tone and practices used amid a renewed federal immigration campaign.
The episode comes as the administration of President Donald Trump expands its immigration crackdown into northeastern states.
The footage and testimony have reignited debate over the use of intimidation in immigration operations and their direct impact on families who are not facing criminal charges.
The Moment of the ICE Agent Threat Captured on Video

The incident took place on Wednesday, January 21, in Biddeford.
In the video, recorded by Cristian Leonardo, an ICE agent is seen closing the front door of the home and then reopening it to issue a direct warning:
“We are going to come back for your whole family.”
After hearing the threat, Leonardo responds to the agent and then translates the message into Spanish for the camera.
“They’re threatening me now. They’re telling me that if I don’t come out, they’re going to come back for my family and for everyone,” he is heard saying.
The footage quickly spread across social media and digital news platforms.
Leonardo stated that during the encounter, no immigration documents were requested and no judicial warrant was presented, a point highlighted by civil rights advocates.
Immigration Operation and Local Reaction

The incident coincided with the launch of a new phase of mass deportation efforts in Maine.
ICE announced the start of “Operation Catch of the Day,” which officially began that same Wednesday as part of a tougher federal immigration policy.
The expansion of operations into Maine has raised alarm among immigrant communities and local authorities.
In this context, the Biddeford video became one of the first visible examples of the impact of the new strategy in the state.
Criticism and the Governor’s Response

Maine Governor Janet Mills publicly expressed concern over ICE’s actions and voiced solidarity with those affected by the operation.
In a statement, she emphasized that the federal government must act within the law and with transparency.
“If the federal government has judicial warrants, it must show them. But if it is separating working mothers from their young children simply for having sought freedom here and without committing any crime, then it is only sowing intimidation and fear,” Mills said.
The case continues to generate reactions and adds to a growing number of complaints questioning the methods used in recent immigration operations, amid a climate of tension and uncertainty for many immigrant families in the United States.
