In a recent interview with Javier Paniagua, renowned singer Edgar Oceransky shared a shocking story about an event that almost cost him his life in 2010.
It all began when Oceransky decided to get a tattoo of a phoenix, a symbol of death and rebirth.
Without imagining that this symbolic act would turn into a near-death experience, he contracted a deadly virus.
It was coxsackie B5, which entered his body through the tattoo wound, causing a severe infection that led him to the hospital and left him in a coma for several days.

Oceransky recalls how it all started as a simple cold, but within hours his condition worsened drastically.
«I was on the verge of death. I decided to get a phoenix tattoo, to die and be reborn,» the singer confirmed to Paniagua.

Doctors initially thought it was a heart attack due to his organ failures and pneumonia.
«A rare virus called coxsackie B5 entered my body, lodged in my heart, and started to inflame and kill me,» he recounted.
What were Edgar Oceransky’s first symptoms?
During the interview, he stated that the first doctor he visited thought it was a common cold virus, so they didn’t hesitate to return home.
«I woke up feeling like I had a cold, nothing major, but she saw me and said, ‘You look bad, let’s go to the doctor.'»
«We went to the corner doctor, he checked me, used a stethoscope, and said, ‘You have a cold.'»
«We went back home, I went to lie down, and when she came to say goodbye, she saw me and said, ‘No, get in the truck.’ I got in the truck and fainted,» he emphasized.

When returning to the doctor due to the severity of his condition, they realized it was a more lethal virus.
«They took an X-ray and saw my lungs filling with water, that’s when they said, ‘It’s a virus,'» the Mexican singer revealed.
Oceransky was induced into a coma due to the severity of his condition, knowing he could die.
«My kidneys were failing. ‘We’re going to have to put you to sleep… We have to get rid of the pneumonia and put you in a coma,'» they announced.

The time Edgar Oceransky spent in a coma was an emotional roller coaster for his family and friends.
Doctors did everything possible to stabilize his condition, but the prognosis was uncertain.
The situation was so dire that at one point, doctors were unsure if he would survive.
However, after several days in a coma, he began to show signs of improvement, managing to avoid death.
What causes this virus?
This virus, known for causing flu-like symptoms and generally harmless in children, can be deadly in adults.
In Oceransky’s case, it is suspected he contracted the virus from a child at his nephew’s baptism, just before getting the tattoo.
«We were at my nephew’s baptism, and it was full of kids. So some kid had it, and the next day I went and got the tattoo, and the virus found a place and got in,» he concluded.
Today, Edgar Oceransky continues to share his talent with the world, carrying the scar of his rebirth and the story of a struggle that almost ended in tragedy.
