Emma Coronel Aispuro is once again making headlines, this time due to revelations about her physical transformation after marrying Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

A reconstruction published in Elle magazine, written by journalist Emily Palmer, provides details about how her life changed after that marriage.

Close relatives shared testimonies describing the before and after of the young woman who, at just 18 years old, became the wife of the then leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.

The account focuses not only on her relationship with the drug lord but also on the physical changes she reportedly underwent during the early years of her marriage.

According to testimony from her cousin Alfonso López, the first encounter between Coronel and Guzmán occurred before the Coffee and Guava Fair in Canelas.

Emma was participating in the contest to be crowned queen of the festival when the cartel leader appeared.

López recalled that the other contestants were “very beautiful” and suggested that Guzmán may have influenced the voting.

“Emma won the contest with exactly half of the 800 votes and was later crowned queen in a silky yellow dress, her hair in curls and eyes lined with kohl,” Elle quoted from a message sent by her cousin via WhatsApp.

Marriage, Isolation, and Change

Shortly after, at 18, Emma Coronel married Guzmán and moved to El Carrizo, Sinaloa.

According to the account, she stayed in a house waiting for her husband’s visits, while it was widely known he had relationships with other women.

This context marked the beginning of a transformation that, according to her cousin, was not immediate in personality but in appearance.

“In those early years of her marriage, Emma began to change,” Elle reported, citing Alfonso López.

Emma Coronel’s Physical Transformation

The publication states that the once-slim young woman began altering her figure, eventually becoming “the curvier, well-dressed woman her husband desired.”

Over time, cosmetic procedures became noticeable to those who had known her before.

Each family gathering revealed differences in her appearance, in a region where cosmetic surgery is not uncommon.

The report suggests that these changes were, according to those around her, influenced by a desire to meet her husband’s expectations.

Pregnancy and Another Change

The narrative also notes that at age 21, Coronel became pregnant, which brought another physical transformation.

“Emma’s body changed in a completely different way,” the reconstruction states.
Beyond surgeries or pregnancy, the story raises questions about personal decisions within an environment shaped by power and influence.

The figure of Emma Coronel—from pageant queen to the wife of one of the most notorious drug lords—continues to spark debate about identity, social pressure, and the costs of a life connected to organized crime, as reported by Infobae.
