According to the EFE news agency, U.S. President Donald Trump insisted that Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, is doing an “excellent job” and collaborating “very well” with his country.

The comment comes a day after several reports claimed that Washington was preparing a criminal indictment against the Chavista leader.

Trump indirectly rejected those versions and once again emphasized cooperation between both governments.

Why it matters: The Trump Delcy Rodríguez statement reflects the White House’s public support for Rodríguez amid political tensions and reports about possible legal action.

Trump praises cooperation with Delcy Rodríguez

The U.S. president expressed his support for the Venezuelan leader in a message posted on his social network Truth Social.

“Delcy Rodríguez, president of Venezuela, is doing an excellent job and collaborating very well with U.S. representatives,” Trump wrote.

In the same message, the president highlighted the development of the relationship between both countries.

“Oil is starting to flow, and the professionalism and dedication between both countries is something very pleasant to see,” he added.

The president’s remarks come in the context of bilateral cooperation that, according to Trump, has intensified in recent months.

The U.S. leader has previously highlighted that Washington maintains a close working relationship with the Venezuelan government led by Delcy Rodríguez.

Trump’s comments also come after information published by the Reuters news agency.

According to that report, the U.S. government would be secretly preparing a criminal accusation against Delcy Rodríguez.

The goal, according to the sources cited in that report, would be to exert pressure on internal politics within Chavismo.

The information indicated that the accusation would be related to an alleged money laundering case.

According to the report, the intention would be to warn Delcy Rodríguez that she could face charges if she does not meet certain demands from the U.S. administration.

However, U.S. authorities rejected that version.

U.S. government denies the published report

U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche responded to the information circulated by Reuters.

In a message posted on the social network X, Blanche described the report as false.

“Completely false what Reuters reported. I’m not sure how information that false ends up being published,” he wrote.

The official accompanied his message with a screenshot of the article spreading the claim.

The statements come amid a political process that began after a Pentagon military operation in January.

During that operation, former Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro was captured.

Maduro is now awaiting a federal trial in New York for conspiracy and narco-terrorism.

Since then, the Trump administration has said it is working with Delcy Rodríguez to promote economic progress between the two countries.

During his State of the Union address last week, the president again insisted that his administration is cooperating closely with Venezuela’s acting president.

Trump said that cooperation seeks to advance economic progress and provide new opportunities for those who have suffered the consequences of Venezuela’s crisis.
