The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reported the arrest of 277 undocumented immigrants during an operation in the metropolitan area of Houston.
The ICE operation took place between April 6 and April 17 in Houston, with support from federal, state, and local authorities.
According to the agency, those detained have criminal records totaling 751 convictions.
ICE also stated that these individuals had allegedly entered the United States irregularly more than 650 times.

According to the official report, among those arrested are individuals linked to serious crimes.
ICE detailed that 17 individuals were convicted of sexual offenses against minors.
Additionally, six people have homicide records.

The report also notes that 16 detainees are connected to drug trafficking.
Another 15 were identified as alleged gang members or associates.
Likewise, 67 individuals have convictions for theft, assault, or burglary.
There were also 11 convictions related to hit-and-run cases.
ICE added that among the arrests are 15 cases are linked to human smuggling.

The report includes multiple additional convictions among those detained.
Cases of domestic violence and illegal possession of firearms were mentioned.
There were also crimes related to fraud and resisting arrest.
Some of those arrested face charges for driving while intoxicated (DWI).
ICE indicated that among the detainees are two foreign fugitives.
These individuals were wanted for homicide in their countries of origin.
The agency also confirmed that several had previously been deported.
However, they reentered the United States illegally.
Current Status of Detainees
ICE reported that some of those arrested have already been deported.
Others remain in custody at detention centers in Texas.
These individuals are awaiting the resolution of their immigration proceedings.
The agency reiterated that it will continue its enforcement operations.
