Hispanic Woman Accused of Chaining Her Daughter to a Fence After Losing Her Job

A 34-year-old woman was arrested in Hialeah, Florida, after being accused of chaining her teenage daughter to a fence and leaving her exposed to the sun for nearly an hour, authorities said.
Teenager Found Chained to a Fence
According to police, Yashira Marie Maldonado allegedly wrapped a chain around the waist of her daughter, believed to be between 13 and 14 years old, securing her to a fence before leaving the area in her vehicle.
When officers arrived at the residence, they found the teenager still chained to the fence, although she was reported to be in good physical condition.

Security cameras reportedly recorded the moment the woman allegedly secured the teenager with a metal chain.
According to the police report, the girl remained outside with a backpack, some clothing, and her medication, but without access to food, water, or protection from the sun.
Grandmother Tried to Help
Yashira Marie Maldonado’s mother told authorities that she received a text message from her daughter informing her that she had lost her job.
When she arrived at the home, she found her granddaughter chained to the fence and attempted to free her but was unable to do so. Police were then notified and responded to the scene.
Woman Faces Serious Charges in Hialeah Child Abuse Case
Maldonado was arrested and is facing charges of child abuse and child neglect.
Authorities set her bond at $10,000 as the investigation continues.
