Family members told local media that Víctor González and his daughter had arranged to meet someone to buy a PlayStation 5 console.

The console had been listed on Facebook Marketplace.

Jessie Waterman, Víctor González’s son and Serenity’s brother, said the two had left home with that purpose.

According to him, father and daughter were heading to meet the seller to complete the purchase.

Waterman said something must have happened during the transaction.

He also noted that it appeared the vehicle may have tried to escape.

The relative explained that this theory is based on marks seen on the road.

He also mentioned the presence of mud along the side of the vehicle.

The family believes the incident may have been an ambush.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed that version as the investigation continues.
