- A Millennial Prophecy About the End of the World?
- The Apocalypse in Just Two Years?
- Did Saint Malachy Predict the Future?
An ancient Vatican manuscript, over 900 years old, has piqued the interest of scholars and believers by predicting the possible end of the world in 2027.
The «Prophecy of the Popes,» attributed to Saint Malachy, is an enigmatic text that has generated significant controversy in the academic and religious community.
This manuscript, discovered in the Vatican archives and written in the 12th century, contains 112 Latin phrases that supposedly describe the popes from Celestine II in 1143 to the current pontiff, Francis.
However, the most unsettling aspect of the prophecy is that it not only anticipated the papal succession but also the exact moment when the Last Judgment would occur.
The Vatican Reveals When the End of the World Will Take Place
An ancient book from the Vatican, over 900 years old, has captured attention for containing a passage that supposedly reveals the world’s end is near. According to interpretations of this ancient text, the end of the world would occur at some point in 2027.
The final prophecy mentions that, during the «last persecution» of the Catholic Church, a pontiff named Peter the Roman will lead his people in times of crisis, until the «city of the seven hills» (an apparent reference to Rome) is destroyed, and the Last Judgment arrives.
Despite the shock these claims generate, many researchers have doubted the document’s authenticity.
Although it is said that Saint Malachy wrote it after a vision during his visit to Rome in 1139, later studies suggest that it is actually a 16th-century forgery.
The Pope’s Prophecy
By the way, for history freaks, the Prophecy of the Popes by Saint Malachy says there will be 112 popes from 1143 until the last, Petrus Romanus. Francis would be the penultimate or the last before the destruction of an important city and the beginning of the end of the world pic.twitter.com/nvqto7uh9v

It was the Benedictine monk Arnold Wion who published it in 1595, which has led most experts to question its veracity.
Nevertheless, many of the predictions have been interpreted as accurate by those who believe in the prophecy.
An example is the mention of the 111th Pope, described as «Gloria Olivae» (“Glory of the Olive”).
Although this pope was Benedict XVI, some claim that the prophecy was indirectly fulfilled, as the Order of Saint Benedict is known as the Olivetans.
Another similar case is that of Pope John Paul II, linked to the phrase «De labore Solis» (“From the labor of the sun” or “Solar eclipse”).
Interestingly, the pontiff was born during a solar eclipse in the 1920s, according to La Nación.
As believers continue to interpret the mysteries of the Prophecy of the Popes, the discussion about its authenticity remains open.
Will 2027 really be the year of the apocalypse, or just another failed prediction? Only time will tell.
