A student at the University of Utah was detained by agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement just days before graduating.

The information was confirmed by his family and attorney, Adam Crayk, during a press conference, according to Telemundo.

Lisandro Pantaleón Pacheco, 22, is currently being held in Evanston, Wyoming.

His arrest took place early Wednesday morning in Park City.

Fidela Pacheco, the student’s mother, expressed her pain following the detention.

“It’s not fair that they detained him without any crime or anything,” she said emotionally.

The attorney explained that Lisandro arrived in the United States when he was one year old.

According to Crayk, his entry into the country was not legal.
