However, he claimed that the option of becoming the 51st U.S. state would allow Canada to access the «golden dome» for free.
«They are considering the offer!» Trump stated in his post.
This statement comes after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney criticized Canada’s dependence on the United States, especially in the field of defense.
Carney pointed out that for every dollar Canada spends on defense, 75% ends up in the U.S., something he considers inefficient.

In response, Carney indicated that the Canadian government would seek to diversify its relations and increase integration with the European defense industry.
Carney also criticized Trump’s attitude, calling it «annexationist ambition» and the use of «economic force» to pressure Canada.
In this context, the Canadian prime minister called on King Charles III to attend the opening of the country’s 45th legislature as a way to reinforce Canadian sovereignty.
For his part, Trump did not miss the opportunity to defend his proposal, claiming that Canada «wants to be part» of his advanced defense system.
Conclusion
According to the U.S. president, Canada would be willing to consider inclusion under the right conditions.
The «golden dome,» which Trump describes as more advanced than Israel’s «iron dome» system, is expected to cost $175 billion, with plans for completion by 2029.
This exchange of statements has brought the relationship between the U.S. and Canada to the forefront, along with concerns about the neighboring country’s security and economic independence.
