  • Storms Ease in the Central US
  • Rain and Thunderstorms in the East
  • Heavy Precipitation in the West

This weekend, storm activity in the central United States is expected to ease, while more severe conditions are forecast for the eastern and western regions of the country.

On Saturday, a slow-moving cold front begins to push eastward, causing residual rain in the southern plains to dissipate.

Meanwhile, a new low-pressure system forms over the Ohio Valley, increasing rainfall in the eastern US.

Thunderstorms will intensify as they cross over the Appalachians, raising the risk of flash flooding.

As the system moves toward the East Coast, isolated severe thunderstorms are expected.

Out west, morning rain will affect the Pacific Northwest.

As the day progresses, scattered thunderstorms will reach the Rocky Mountains, with potential flash flooding risks in Nevada.

In higher mountain elevations, snow and wintry mix are also anticipated.

Temperature variations will be notable across regions.

While parts of Florida and the desert Southwest will see highs near 90°F (32°C), the southern U.S. and high plains will enjoy milder temperatures ranging from the 70s to 80s°F (21–27°C).

In the Northeast and around the Great Lakes, temperatures will drop to the 50s and 60s°F (10–20°C).

By Sunday, two weather systems will affect national conditions. One will center over the Midwest, while another will develop in Southern California.

Severe Weather Conditions Expected

Both systems will bring moisture across the country, causing rain and thunderstorms.

In the East, storms and rainfall will focus on the Ohio and Tennessee valleys and the East Coast, with some storms producing strong winds and hail.

In the West, precipitation will increase across Southern California, the desert Southwest, and the Rockies. While rain will dominate, snow is possible at higher elevations.

The High Plains may also experience afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

Nationwide, temperatures will range between 59°F and 70°F (15–21°C), with some areas seeing highs slightly above 81°F (27°C).

While the central US remains mostly dry, other parts of the country will face varying—and in some areas—severe weather conditions.
