President Donald Trump celebrated this reduction as a victory for his immigration policy and assured that the «invasion» of migrants has ended.
In a statement made 11 days ago, he highlighted that February was the first full month of his new term and that his strategy has successfully curbed the influx of immigrants to the country.
«President Trump and Secretary Noem have sent a clear message: if you cross the border illegally, you will be deported without the chance to try again the next day or within a few hours.»
«As a result, CBP encounters with undocumented immigrants have drastically decreased,» CBP affirmed this Wednesday.

Last month, authorities had already reported an 85% decrease in border crossings during the first 11 days of Trump’s second administration, compared to the same period in 2024.
The Republican administration has intensified security measures at the border with Mexico, including the deployment of more agents and the use of advanced technology to detect and halt irregular entry attempts.
In addition to immigration restrictions, CBP reported that between mid-January and the end of February, operations were carried out in California, Arizona, and the Pacific Northwest, where more than 4,800 kilos of drugs were seized.
The substances confiscated include cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, marijuana, amphetamine, ketamine, and ecstasy.
Trump has pushed harsh measures against illegal immigration since the beginning of his term, according to EFE.
Including raids across the country and the revocation of immigration benefits for several nationalities.
It is estimated that more than 11 million immigrants live without legal status in the United States, many of whom have been residents for years and play a key role in the country’s economy.
