Popular Mexican band Maná recently launched a social impact initiative which moved the communities of Uvalde and San Antonio in Texas.

They announced that a portion of the profits from their Texas shows would be donated.

The band is supporting the Maite Yuleana Rodríguez Scholarship offered by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

This fund was created on behalf of the 10-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in the senseless shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.

Ana Coronado is the mother of the little victim who was killed in the shooting that has left a dark stain on the Uvalde community.

Coronado attended the group’s show on Saturday night where they announced the donation on behalf of  Maite.

Her mother told ABC News that the little girl was enchanted by marine animals and she dreamed of being a marine biologist.

She shares her passion for marine life with Fher Olvera, the band’s vocalist, who incorporated a turtle into the stage set at their show.

«No matter the platform he has, the fame he has, the one thing she would have said is ‘Hey, we both like turtles!'» Coronado stated.

ABC News noted that Coronado waited backstage wearing green converse like her daughter’s, before going onstage.

She went on stage when the Mexican band began performing ‘El Reloj Cucú’.

The song, which was written by Olvera after the loss of her father as a ‘cry of love’, was dedicated to little Maite on Saturday.

«She is still doing great things,» Ana Coronado said of her late daughter, according to ABC News.

«She’s still achieving so much and I can’t believe she’s mine. My girl… my girl is doing this,» added the grieving mother.

Through their various performances on the México Lindo y Querido tour, the group has chosen to help various causes close to their hearts.

These have ranged from human rights to environmental issues as the band notes that they like to help people.

“Music has given us so much that we feel good helping people,” drummer Alex González told ABC News.

«If we can inspire other people to help, then I think it’s better,» González added to the outlet.

“Everyone should pitch in and try to help each other. That’s what we need,» concluded the artist.

However, the donations that the Mexican band will make from their performances in Texas are not only for the scholarship fund.

While it was reported that part of the proceeds would be donated to the scholarship honoring Maite’s memory, that’s not all the band gave.

Maná has also decided to make other donations that will go to The Latino Victory Foundation.

This is a national voter registration partner they are committed to supporting.

According to the band, LiveNation has also generously pledged to support both causes.
