Swiss authorities have formally charged the husband of a former Miss Switzerland finalist with murder in a case that has shocked the public due to the extreme violence involved and the alleged attempt to conceal the victim’s body.

The accused, a 43-year-old Swiss man, faces charges of homicide and disturbance of public order before the Criminal Court of Basel-Landschaft, according to the prosecutor’s office on December 10.

The victim was 38 years old and died in February 2024 inside the home she shared with her husband in the town of Binningen, according to court records.

Although authorities did not officially release her name, local media identified her as Kristina Joksimovic, a former finalist in the Miss Switzerland 2007 pageant. The former Miss Switzerland murder case has since drawn international attention.

Initially, the man claimed he had found his wife dead, a version he maintained for several weeks while cooperating with authorities.

One month later, he changed his statement and admitted to killing her, alleging that he acted in self-defense, according to judicial documents cited by European media.

Despite the severity of the crime, formal charges were not filed until this month—nearly two years after the woman’s death—raising questions about the pace of the investigation.

Prosecutors now argue that sufficient evidence exists to directly charge him with murder in the former Miss Switzerland murder case.

Forensic Report and the Most Disturbing Details

Forensic investigators revealed an especially violent scenario following the former beauty queen’s death.

According to the case file, the woman was allegedly strangled before her body was dismembered using household tools.

The remains, the report states, were then processed in a blender and later dissolved using a chemical substance.

These findings were decisive in advancing the criminal charges.

Family Impact and Kristina Joksimovic’s Public Profile

Police sources confirmed that the couple had two children, a detail that has intensified the social impact of the case.

So far, authorities have not disclosed whether the accused has legal representation or when his next court appearance will take place.

Kristina Joksimovic maintained an active presence on social media, where she shared content related to modeling and professional training.

On her profiles, she described herself as a modeling coach and frequently posted runway videos, with no public indication of the tragedy unfolding within her family environment, according to Univisión.
