They uncover ‘secret’ of José Reyes

As the fourth season of the Telemundo reality show progresses, affection for the Dominican contestant has grown due to his unique personality.

In the conflicts of ‘La Casa de los Famosos’, he avoids getting involved, which has led people to praise him for taking things lightly.

However, many question Telemundo’s decision to include him in the reality show given his criminal record.

Indeed, ‘La Melaza’ has spent time in prison due to an incident for which more details have now emerged.

La Melaza would have hit his wife

According to information from sources like ‘People en Español‘, on October 31, 2015, the baseball player ran into legal trouble.

He was arrested because his wife, Katherine, accused him of domestic violence while they were vacationing in Hawaii.

The player’s wife claimed that ‘La Melaza’ had grabbed her by the neck and thrown her against a glass door in the hotel where they were staying.

Reportedly, the woman sustained injuries to her wrist, leg, and part of her neck.

The ‘La Casa de los Famosos’ contestant posted bail after his arrest to continue his legal proceedings while being free.

However, the case took an unexpected turn when ‘La Melaza’s’ wife herself dropped the charges against him in March 2016.

Apparently, there was a reconciliation between the couple, and Katherine did not cooperate with law enforcement to pursue the case against ‘La Melaza’ any further.

Now, 8 years later, the baseball player received a video from his family, including his wife, showing support for his participation in ‘La Casa de los Famosos’.

Favorite in ‘La Casa de los Famosos’?

La Melaza has repeatedly stated that he entered the Telemundo reality show with the goal of «living the experience,» not to win the $200,000 prize.

However, if he were to win the prize money, the former baseball player has stated that he would donate the amount to various charitable institutions.

The Dominican was a champion in Major League Baseball playing for the New York Mets, the Miami Marlins, as well as the Colorado Rockies and the Toronto Blue Jays.

He was active in the leagues for 16 years.
