Thousands of Americans may be eligible to receive payments exceeding $7,000 due to a settlement in a data breach lawsuit.

See Tickets, a company that sells around 20 million tickets annually, experienced a security breach in September 2023.

The lawsuit claims that hackers stole payment card information during the cyberattack.

Although the company denies any wrongdoing, it agreed to pay $3.25 million to settle the case.

Compensation and Benefits for Data Breach Victims in the U.S.

Affected individuals may receive up to $2,000 in reimbursements for expenses such as bank fees, short-term loans, and more.

Additionally, those who experience extraordinary losses related to identity theft may claim up to $5,000.

Individuals can also choose between three years of free credit monitoring or a payment of up to $100.

A subgroup of affected individuals in California may receive an additional $100 payment.

Data breach victims must submit a claim form by October 20, 2024 in order to receive their compensation.

Proof of losses, such as bills, bank statements, or police reports, is required.

This settlement follows a one-time payment of more than $3,000 that some Americans received from a privacy lawsuit.

Magid Gloves, a company that used biometric watches and temperature scanners, violated privacy laws in Illinois.

The company, which manufactures work gloves, agreed to a $5.175 million settlement to resolve the lawsuit.

Additionally, the streaming platform Tubi agreed to pay $19.99 million in a privacy lawsuit.

Tubi was accused of sharing users’ personal information without their consent.

Thousands of Tubi users may receive a share of the settlement as compensation for identity theft, which will be distributed among the claimants.
