Club América will return to Estadio Banorte after nearly two years away, following the stadium’s renovation ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The return will be temporary and marks a highly anticipated moment for both the team and its fans.
The team’s return to its stadium represents a key step in Mexico’s final preparation phase as a host of the 2026 World Cup, while also restoring the club’s identity after playing away from home.
Date set for the return to Estadio Banorte

The team managed by André Jardine will return to play at Estadio Banorte on April 11.
The match will be against Cruz Azul, corresponding to Matchday 14 of the Clausura 2026. This game will mark Las Águilas’ reunion with their stadium after a long period away due to modernization work.
A return that will be temporary

Club América’s stay at the stadium will be limited.
The club will only be able to use Estadio Banorte during April, as FIFA will later take control of the venue as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup. This makes the return a brief but meaningful window.
Nearly two years away from home

Club América’s last match at Estadio Banorte was on May 26, 2024.
In that game, the team lifted its 15th Liga MX title after defeating Cruz Azul in the Clausura 2024 final. Since then, the club had to move to Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes, an alternate venue that did not fully convince either the team or its fans.
Club América fans will have their place secured

The club confirmed that season ticket holders will keep their seats in this new stage.
In the coming days, they will receive information about seat updates through official channels. The board also highlighted that the stadium will offer improved conditions and experiences after its renovation.
Club América will take advantage of this brief return to reconnect with its fans before the stadium enters its final phase ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
