The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, reaffirmed her confidence in maintaining a good relationship with the United States following Donald Trump’s potential return to the White House.
Sheinbaum assured that she will always defend the rights of Mexican migrants on U.S. soil.
During her press conference, she introduced a «support scheme» from the consulates to assist nationals.
«The consulates are going to significantly change the way they handle and facilitate legal and administrative support,» she declared.

The Mexican leader expressed her commitment: «We will always be with them and defend them. That is our task and our function.»
Sheinbaum highlighted the strength of the Mexican economy and the benefits of the Mexico, United States, and Canada Agreement (USMCA).
«Mexico, the United States, and Canada have a very important economic integration,» she emphasized.
She mentioned that «Mexico’s exports have continued to grow,» which strengthens the economic and geopolitical relationship between both countries.
Regarding the Mexican peso, Claudia Sheinbaum explained that recent fluctuations are mainly due to the U.S. election.
«I am convinced that there will be a good relationship; our economy is very solid and strong,» she added.

The president also indicated that Mexico will maintain high-level dialogue with the new U.S. government.
«We will seek this communication at the moment when the triumph is officially confirmed,» she expressed.

Among the priority issues, she mentioned a migration plan and highlighted a 75% reduction in migration at the northern border.
Claudia Sheinbaum also addressed drug and arms trafficking, key issues for the development of both countries.
She warned that she would make a formal statement once the vote counting in the United States concludes.
