Advisers to U.S. President Donald Trump believe the risk of a possible Chinese attack against Taiwan has increased following Trump’s recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

The concerns emerged after the summit held this week between both leaders.

According to U.S. media reports, individuals close to the president believe Xi Jinping is attempting to position China as a global power equal to the United States.

They also believe the Chinese leader continues maintaining a firm stance regarding Taiwan.

According to statements cited by digital outlet Axios, Trump advisers believe Xi is trying to send the message that: “Taiwan is mine.”

The future of the island was reportedly one of the major issues discussed during the meetings between the United States and China.

Meanwhile, Trump has publicly insisted on portraying the summit with Xi Jinping as a diplomatic success.

The president even shared several photographs from the Beijing visit on Truth Social.

Trump says he does not want a war over Taiwan

According to EFE, during an interview broadcast on Fox News, Trump stated that he is not encouraging Taiwan’s independence.

After recent tensions, the president also said he does not want the United States involved in a war with China over the future of Taiwan.

“I’m not looking for anyone to become independent,” Trump declared.

The president also questioned whether the United States should participate in a military conflict thousands of miles away.

During the interview, the Republican leader stated that Taiwan remained a central topic throughout his discussions with Xi Jinping.

According to Trump, the two leaders discussed the island “all night.”

The American president also suggested that China could attempt to seize Taiwan once he leaves office.

“Right now, with me here, I don’t think they’ll do anything while I’m here,” he stated.

However, he added that he considers Chinese action against the island likely after he is no longer president.

The comments once again focused attention on the growing tensions between Washington and Beijing regarding Taiwan.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio also commented on the issue following the Trump-Xi summit.

Rubio stated that official U.S. policy toward Taiwan remains unchanged.

“United States policy regarding the Taiwan issue remains unchanged,” the secretary said.

Rubio also emphasized that Washington’s position continues to stand after the Beijing meeting.

His comments appeared aimed at projecting diplomatic stability amid increasing speculation regarding possible regional escalation.

The future of Taiwan continues to represent one of the primary points of tension between China and the United States.

The island maintains a strategic role within the broader relationship between both powers.

Meanwhile, warnings expressed by Trump advisers reflect growing concern among sectors of the U.S. administration.

Concerns continue growing over Taiwan’s future

Statements made following the summit have intensified uncertainty surrounding Taiwan’s future amid the growing rivalry between Washington and Beijing.

The possibility of conflict in the region continues generating international concern.

The meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping was closely monitored because of the importance of issues such as regional security and bilateral relations.

Although Trump insists the summit was successful, some advisers believe China is strengthening its position regarding Taiwan.

For now, the United States officially maintains its long-standing policy toward the island.

However, recent statements reflect rising tensions surrounding Taiwan’s future and the role China could play in the years ahead.
