On the morning of December 16, the presence of federal agents was reported at multiple locations across Chicago and its suburbs as part of alleged immigration enforcement operations.
Citizen reports indicate that the actions were allegedly led by Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino, who was personally seen at some of the targeted locations.

Users and witnesses indicated that the operations took place both at commercial establishments and in residential areas throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.

Among the locations mentioned was a Walmart store in Cicero, according to Univision.
Activity was also reported at a Home Depot located at the intersection of 47th Street and Cicero Avenue.
Additional operations were reported in the Brighton Park and La Villita neighborhoods on the city’s Southwest Side.
According to witness accounts, federal agents were also observed in a residential area of Garfield Park.
In total, at least three separate operations were reportedly carried out during the morning of December 16 across different parts of the metropolitan area.
Reports consistently noted that the agents’ presence was highly visible and generated concern among residents and workers in the affected areas, intensifying fears surrounding Chicago immigration raids.

Community members stated that they saw Gregory Bovino personally leading some of the operations.
According to witness testimony, the Border Patrol chief was accompanied by video cameras during his involvement.
This direct presence was documented by individuals who were at the locations where the actions took place.
Bovino was identified by residents who said they recognized him during the operations.
His appearance prompted immediate reactions from members of the community who witnessed the federal deployment.
Detentions in La Villita and Community Pushback
A Univision news crew reported from the La Villita neighborhood that several detentions occurred during the morning operations.
The area also saw the presence of a group of people alerting the community by blowing whistles.
This action was intended to warn neighbors and passersby about the presence of federal agents.
During the operation in La Villita, one resident directly confronted Gregory Bovino.
The individual questioned why he continues to terrorize the community.
“We are detaining criminals,” Bovino responded to the accusation.
