Many famous figures experienced the powerful earthquake in Colombia, including Mexican actress Laura Flores, who was at Bogotá airport with her daughter when the magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Colombia on Monday, August 10. According to reports from UnoTV, the disaster left at least 100 people dead.
Through social media, the actress shared the tense moments she experienced during the earthquake, which was centered near San José del Palmar in Chocó.
“It just shook really hard. It lasted a long time, I think almost a minute (…) In Bogotá, it almost never shakes. Nothing happened at the airport, but everything moved, and it moved badly. It was frightening. I hope everyone is okay,” the actress said in an Instagram video.

The actress also reflected on the lack of preparedness and the difference between the experience in Colombia and earthquakes in her native Mexico, stating that “there is no protocol here; people aren’t used to earthquakes.”
Later, in the caption of her post, Flores sent a message of solidarity to the local population: “A hug to the beautiful people of Colombia, who always have a smile and such wonderful manners. El Dorado Airport in Bogotá is fine.”

Meanwhile, Ninel Conde experienced truly terrifying moments after being caught in the earthquake on the 14th floor of a hotel in Bogotá, where she had arrived hours earlier for filming, according to outlets including Univision.
Together with her niece and her dog Bela, the singer was overcome with panic and immediately sought shelter. “I got under a table, came out, called her husband, went back under the table, and it just wouldn’t stop moving,” she recounted.
The artist said, “It is the strongest earthquake I have ever felt in my life, and that’s saying something because I lived in Mexico City.”

Likewise, other well-known international entertainment figures experienced the effects of the earthquake in Colombia.
Spanish singer David Bisbal, who had arrived in the capital early that morning, shared the strength of the earthquake on his Instagram Stories, saying:
“An earthquake. I hope nothing happens, my God,” before adding that he decided to leave his room because he was concerned about aftershocks.
Carlos Ponce also described what happened from his workplace: “It’s shaking! How scary!” as he recorded the lamps moving, making it an unforgettable day for the celebrities in the South American country.
