Ryan Wesley Routh, the man accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump, was lurking for nearly 12 hours before authorities apprehended him.
The incident occurred at Trump’s golf club in Palm Beach, Florida, this past Sunday.
According to reports, Routh, 58, had been in the vicinity of the golf course since 1:59 a.m. (local time).
At that time, he was seen loitering in the area with an AR-47 assault rifle and other items.

The FBI is investigating the incident as an assassination attempt, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is also overseeing the investigation.
The Secret Service, alerted by the suspicious presence, observed Routh hiding behind some bushes. Although the suspect didn’t fire, he was discovered and forced to flee.
He was apprehended approximately 45 minutes later while driving his truck northbound on an interstate highway.
Among the items abandoned at the scene were the weapon, two backpacks, and a GoPro camera.
During his first appearance in federal court in South Florida, Routh faced charges of firearm possession.
This after being a convicted felon and for possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number.

He had previously been convicted in 2002 for possessing a weapon of mass destruction, which prohibited him from carrying firearms.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Trump criticized current President Joe Biden and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

He suggested that their rhetoric contributed to Routh’s actions.
Trump also expanded his criticism on social media, accusing the «radical left» of destroying the country.
Routh, who has expressed his disillusionment with Trump and his support for Ukraine on social media, is set to return to court on September 23 for a bail hearing and on September 30 for his arraignment.
He faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to half a million dollars if convicted.
