Host Karla Martínez shared one of the most difficult moments of her life while talking about the kidney disease affecting her husband, Emerson Peraza.
During an interview, she revealed that the diagnosis came when he was 33 years old, marking the beginning of a complex medical journey.
The situation worsened after the pandemic, when a health crisis sent him to the hospital in an emergency, completely changing the family’s daily life.
“They told him: ‘Do you know that your kidneys practically no longer work? You are in kidney failure and you need dialysis now,’” she recalled.
Failed Donation Attempt That Devastated Karla Martínez

Given the severity of his condition, the family began the transplant process, and Martínez was the first person to volunteer as a donor.
After undergoing medical tests, she discovered that she was compatible, which increased her hope of being able to help her husband.

However, a condition discovered during the evaluations prevented her from continuing with the procedure.
“I had all the tests done. I was compatible, imagine that, but they did not allow me to because they found small stones in my kidneys,” Karla Martínez explained.
A Difficult Emotional Blow to Overcome
The news became a devastating moment for the presenter, who admitted the emotional impact of not being able to directly help.
Her desire to save her husband was cut short, causing deep sadness that she still remembers with pain.
“When they told me, I cried so much… because I said: ‘I wanted to be the one, I wanted to’,” she shared emotionally.
Despite the setback, the family continued searching for alternatives to achieve the transplant Peraza needed.

Even so, he maintained a positive and faith-filled attitude, emotionally supporting his family during times of uncertainty.
“Calm down, my love, God wants it this way,” he would tell her, showing a strength that supported those around him during the most difficult moments.
