Jessica Maldonado spoke through tears about one of the most difficult moments of her professional life.
The journalist, who was part of the program Al Rojo Vivo, opened up about her departure from Telemundo.
During a live broadcast with Rodner Figueroa, she recalled the moment she received the news that she was leaving the network.
Her statements showed that, although it was a strong blow, it was not the most painful event she faced last year.
“Nothing Devastated Me More”

During the conversation, Rodner asked her directly how it affected her to learn that she would no longer continue with the network.
“You know, Rodner, I thought it was going to hit me harder or that it would devastate me,” she replied.

However, she said there was another event that affected her life even more deeply.
“Nothing, nothing devastated me more than what happened to me on January 8… Nothing. And I think that somehow prepared me,” she said, referring to the wildfires that occurred in Los Angeles.
Jessica Maldonado’s Telemundo exit therefore came after a year filled with personal challenges.
A Job Does Not Define a Career
Maldonado made it clear that leaving Telemundo did not mean the end of her career.
“Like I said, someone who interviewed me asked: ‘Oh, did your career end?’ No, no,” she said firmly.
For the journalist, the connection with the audience goes beyond any employment contract.
“That affection doesn’t come from any network, not here or there; you earn it yourself,” she said.
Her perspective on her Telemundo exit highlighted the importance of personal credibility and audience support.
Jessica Maldonado Has Confidence in Her Reputation
The journalist insisted that her reputation does not depend on a company.
“I trust that affection and respect… I don’t care when people leave negative comments,” she said.
She also stated that losing her job did not affect her professional identity.
“Losing a job is just that: losing a job. I didn’t lose my career, I didn’t lose my prestige, I didn’t lose who I am,” she emphasized.
A Wave of Layoffs in Telemundo
Maldonado’s departure was not an isolated case within the network.
It was part of a series of layoffs that also affected other well-known figures.
Among them was host Myrka Dellanos, who also left the company during the same period.
The situation generated numerous reactions from viewers and colleagues in the media industry.
