Volunteers who monitor ICE activity confirmed that the arrests were swift and well-coordinated, according to Univision.
One volunteer said officers arrived in unmarked vehicles, which added to the confusion among witnesses.
Some reported that migrants tried to run in different directions, but the presence of agents stationed around the parking lot limited escape routes.
One day laborer said he avoided arrest only because he had decided not to work that day. Another said he managed to hide in a nearby McDonald’s, where ICE agents did not enter.

The incident adds to a growing trend of increased immigration arrests across Southern California.
According to official data cited by VisaVerge, between June 6 and August 7, ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested 4,163 migrants in the Los Angeles area.
These numbers represent a significant increase compared to previous months and reflect an intensification of enforcement operations in a region known for its migrant protection policies.
California, a self-declared “sanctuary state,” continues to face tensions with federal authorities over immigration law enforcement.
However, recent operations demonstrate that ICE continues conducting raids even in areas where local governments seek to limit their reach.
Images and eyewitness accounts shared by local media have raised concerns among human rights organizations, warning about the psychological and economic toll these arrests have on immigrant communities.
Why It Matters
The ICE raid in Home Depot underscores the vulnerability of undocumented day laborers who depend on daily jobs to survive.
Many of these workers — largely of Latin American origin — face the constant threat of detention while seeking employment in public spaces.
The operation also reignites debate over ICE’s role in communities that promote inclusion policies, highlighting how such actions foster fear and mistrust that ripple through local economies and community relations.
