Gail Castro, brother of popular influencer Markitos Toys, was shot and killed at a restaurant in Ensenada, Baja California.
The attack took place on the afternoon of Friday, March 28, at Villa Marina restaurant, where Castro was ambushed by armed individuals who fired multiple shots.
The killing shocked the online community, as Gail Castro was also a content creator with a significant following on social media.
So far, Markitos Toys has not issued any public statement regarding his brother’s death, though followers and friends have shared condolences on their platforms.

Preliminary reports indicate that the gunmen also targeted another individual who was with Castro at the time.
It is believed this second victim also died in the attack.

Following the shooting, the suspects fled in a sedan that was later found abandoned a few blocks from the scene.
Municipal police and the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office (FGE BC) arrived at the scene minutes later.
At the entrance of the restaurant, they found Gail Castro’s body lying face-up with visible gunshot wounds and blood on his clothing and the ground.
Authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the events and identify those responsible.
However, no arrests have been made, and possible motives have not yet been disclosed.
In January, Gail Castro’s name appeared alongside other influencers and regional Mexican music figures in a flyer linking them to criminal activity.

Gail Castro was known not only as the brother of Markitos Toys but also for his own digital content.

In October 2019, he married Brianda Sánchez, with whom he had a child.
His posts highlighted the importance of family, often featuring his wife and son.
As of now, Brianda Sánchez has not issued a statement about her husband’s death.
Castro managed a YouTube channel called «El Gail,» where he documented travel experiences and personal moments.
His videos included visits to places like Switzerland, Disneyland, and exotic beaches.

Gail Castro’s death has reignited controversy surrounding Markitos Toys and his inner circle.
In the past, the influencer has faced allegations of ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, specifically the «Los Chapitos» faction.
Journalists like Raymundo Rivapalacio, Ocran Leaks, and author Anabel Hernández have referenced possible money laundering links.
However, Markitos Toys has consistently denied these accusations, claiming his success comes solely from his social media work and legitimate businesses.
Gail Castro’s killing adds to the ongoing wave of violence in Baja California, where organized crime activity has been on the rise in recent months.
Authorities continue to investigate, but the absence of arrests leaves the case shrouded in uncertainty, according to El Financiero.
