Evaluna also disclosed that she did not undergo any ultrasounds during her pregnancy, choosing an unconventional approach for the birth of her first daughter, Índigo.
This revelation has drawn criticism from many internet users, who labeled her actions as ‘complete negligence,’ potentially endangering her own health and that of her baby.
These revelations were made during her appearance on the podcast ‘Thinking about it, we thought badly,’ hosted by her sister-in-law, Stefi Roitman.
The ‘Uno más uno’ singer elaborated on her decision to eschew traditional medical care throughout her first pregnancy.
Evaluna’s pregnancy
Evaluna emphasized that during her pregnancy, she relied solely on her faith and the care of a midwife for both the pregnancy and the birth of her daughter.
Additionally, she revealed that her mother, Marlene Rodríguez, took on the role of a doula, providing information and support throughout the motherhood journey.
Marlene also offered assistance as Evaluna prepared for the unconventional birth process.
‘I had no ultrasound; everything was done with the midwife who felt my belly and listened to the heart, and that was it,’ Evaluna explained.
Alternative motherhood and family support
Evaluna described her 40-week pregnancy experience, saying, ‘I never saw [the baby] and we didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl, so there was a bit of fear, wondering «is everything okay?»‘ She shared her thoughts and feelings about this period of uncertainty.
She continued, ‘My mom trained to be a doula, and I initially thought she would be mine. But then she decided, «you know what, I want to be your mom at that moment,» and that felt perfect to me.’
Evaluna elaborated on the distinct roles in her birthing process, ‘The midwife handles all the medical aspects, the baby, and the birth itself, while the doula focuses from here to ca (from the waist to the head).’
She explained, ‘That means providing emotional support, accompaniment, massages, and all those essential things that make such a difference during the process,’ emphasizing the holistic support she received.»
Controversial decision in Evaluna’s pregnancy
Evaluna emphasized the range of choices available to expectant mothers, saying, ‘The great thing now is that you have all these options.
It’s important to research, study, and learn everything so you can know exactly what you want for your pregnancy.’

Meanwhile, others showed respect for her choice, recognizing it as a personal and private matter, and refrained from expressing criticism.»
Reactions on social media
Responses to Evaluna’s choices were varied and intense on social media. Some comments were critical, with users saying things like, ‘I don’t see anything brave, what I see is irresponsibility,’ and ‘I thought Ricardo Montaner had a normal daughter, but no.’
Others remarked, ‘Both she and her husband are clueless,’ ‘Brave? Irresponsible rather!’ and ‘The worst example that can be given to a woman.’
However, there were also voices of support: ‘Repeat with me. It was her daughter’s belly, not mine. End,’ ‘Before this was normal,’ and ‘What about when those devices didn’t exist? Stop criticizing.’
The debate on social media has been ongoing since Evaluna’s statements went viral.
