According to El Heraldo de México, deep in the woods and within a restricted-access country development in Tapalpa, authorities located the property identified as the final refuge of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho.”

The cabin, situated in a wooded area surrounded by dense vegetation, offered privacy and internal roads that limited visibility from the outside.

The site was discovered by military forces during the federal operation that culminated in the death of the leader of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG).

According to information released after the deployment, personnel entered the property after forcing open the main wooden door.

A Refuge in a Forested, Restricted-Access Area

The two-story structure was located within an exclusive country-style residential complex.

The natural surroundings acted as a visual barrier and facilitated isolation from urban areas.

Images circulating on social media and in news outlets suggest the site functioned as a secure shelter.

The official timeline indicates that when the military operation began, El Mencho abandoned the cabin.

He allegedly attempted to flee toward a nearby brush-covered area.

It was during that movement that a confrontation with federal forces occurred.

After confirming his presence, Army Special Forces and the National Guard established a perimeter in the area.

According to the official report, members of the armed group protecting him opened fire upon noticing the military presence.

The injuries sustained during the clash resulted in his death.

El Mencho’s Religious Altar and Kidney Treatment

Inside the cabin, authorities found items suggesting an extended stay.

One of the most striking discoveries was a religious altar.

The altar contained images of Saint Jude Thaddeus and the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Medications were also found.

Among them was Tationil Plus, a complementary treatment used for patients with kidney conditions.

The presence of this medication reinforced prior reports regarding El Mencho’s health, as he was allegedly suffering from kidney failure.

Images show boxes containing food items such as tomatoes, potatoes, and cartons of eggs.

These supplies suggest an intention to remain at the location for an extended period.

Prior to the operation and during the attempted escape, CJNG members reportedly left behind various clothing items.

Among them were luxury T-shirts and jackets.

Bedrooms contained bedding and personal-use items.

Makeup, facial treatments, hair dye for gray hair, deodorant, perfumes, and toothbrushes were also found.

The interior reflected a mix of refined finishes and everyday objects.

The cabin illustrated a contrast between isolation, luxury, and elements of daily routine.

Images released after the operation provide a glimpse inside El Mencho hideout in Tapalpa, the space where the CJNG leader had been staying before the military deployment that ended his life.
