The Final Audio Attributed to El Mencho That Shook Social Media

Amid reports surrounding the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” leader of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), an audio recording in which he allegedly threatens a police commander in Jalisco has resurfaced and gone viral once again.
Although the audio circulated widely in 2023, the weekly magazine Proceso reported that the recording dates back to September 8, 2016. In the conversation, the alleged crime boss demands that an officer identified as “Delta 1” halt operations in areas such as Chapala.
Intimidating Content in El Mencho’s Final Audio
In the threatening audio of El Mencho, the alleged criminal leader issues direct threats against the commander and his personnel, demanding that he “ease up” on his officers.
What stands out is that toward the end of the conversation, the speaker apologizes for his language, while the officer responds that he is simply following orders.
Subsequent Arrest
According to reports cited by Televisa and Mexico’s National Security Commission (CNS), the police officer involved was arrested the following day — September 9, 2016 — although his identity was not publicly disclosed.

At the time, the recording was presented as an example of the level of pressure that criminal organizations exerted over local authorities in certain regions of the country.
