In her morning press conference, Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, shared encouraging news for migrants and senior citizens.
Amid Trump’s threat of mass deportations, Mexico is set to receive thousands of migrants expelled from the U.S. But is staying in Mexico a guarantee of stability?
The Mexican president pledged to protect migrants and detailed the measures being taken.
“We are strengthening all the processes they undergo to simplify them, so they don’t have to stand in the long lines they usually face,” Sheinbaum stated.

Sheinbaum made her stance clear: “Additionally, we are enhancing legal support to assist them in case they face legal issues related to deportation or other matters. We will always support them.”
One of the existing plans involves strengthening the Mexican consulates in the U.S.
Furthermore, Claudia Sheinbaum is considering offering pensions to senior Mexican citizens living abroad.
Regarding pensions, Sheinbaum clarified: “In the case of pensions and other benefits, we are reviewing the situation. I must be honest because I’m not used to promising things that might be difficult to fulfill immediately due to budget constraints.”
Pensions for Mexicans Living Abroad

President Claudia Sheinbaum noted, “The sheer number of Mexicans living there [in the U.S.] makes it a challenge, but we are looking into it,” as reported.
According to Forbes and El País, nearly 2 million Mexican migrants aged 65 or older currently reside in the U.S.
The federal government’s pension program, initiated under López Obrador’s administration, provides 6,000 pesos ($297) to senior citizens.
Notably, a few weeks ago, Claudia Sheinbaum requested that Trump ensure deported migrants bypass Mexico and are returned directly to their home countries.
