Both politicians have been campaigning intensively in this crucial state for the general elections and are expected to intensify their efforts in the coming months.

Pennsylvania, which switched from favoring Trump in 2016 to Biden in 2020, plays a critical role in the general elections.

However, there were a significant number of «uncommitted» votes in the Democratic primary — a protest against Biden’s handling of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Bob Casey and his Republican counterpart David McCormick emerged as winners in their respective contests.

Casey and McCormick will face off in November in a battle that could be decisive for control of the Senate.

The Pennsylvania ballot will feature presidential and Senate candidates.

The state could be the determining factor for maintaining Democratic control of both the White House and the Senate.

Casey, a prominent Biden ally in Congress, has deep connections in Pennsylvania, having built his political career in that state.

Biden, known among Democrats as «Pennsylvania’s third senator,» has maintained an active presence in the state over the years, even before his presidential bid.

As for McCormick and Trump, despite their mutual support, they represent a somewhat unusual combination on the Republican ticket.

Trump had attacked McCormick during the 2022 primaries, endorsing cardiologist Mehmet Oz, who eventually won.

McCormick, in a private meeting, refused to endorse Trump’s false claim of alleged fraud in the 2020 presidential election, a stance the former president still holds.

Democrats, with the slimmest majority in the Senate, face a challenging electoral landscape in 2024.

They must defend their seats in traditionally Republican states like Montana and Ohio.

Meanwhile, they also need to gain ground in Michigan and West Virginia, according to The Associated Press.

A Casey defeat could tip the balance towards Republican control of the Senate.
