- Consumer warning issued
- Product may contain metal
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an urgent recall.
This affects 4,800 bags of shredded Colby Jack cheese from the Happy Farms brand, sold exclusively at ALDI supermarkets.
The recalled products were distributed in stores across Connecticut, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
This action was taken due to concerns about possible contamination with metal fragments, which could pose a health risk to consumers.
Urgent Recall at ALDI

The recall, classified as Class II by the FDA, means that consumption of the product may lead to temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects.
The affected cheese bags have UPC code 4061463330840 and expiration dates between July 13 and 14, 2025.

Authorities reported that the cheese may contain fragments of stainless steel, posing a potential injury risk if ingested.
Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc., the company responsible for producing the cheese, voluntarily initiated the recall in cooperation with the FDA.
According to a company statement, the recall is part of a rapid response plan aimed at efficiently removing the affected product from ALDI shelves and preventing any further risk to consumers.
Although Happy Farms also sells this cheese in various supermarkets in Mexico, no official warnings have been issued by Mexican authorities as of now.
This is not an isolated incident for ALDI in 2025.
Earlier this year, in January, ALDI recalled 25,000 pounds of Casa Mamita frozen chicken and cheese taquitos.
This alert at ALDI was issued after a consumer reported finding a piece of metal in the product.
That incident, reported to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), resulted in a dental injury for the affected individual.
The USDA has emphasized that metal contamination in food can occur during the manufacturing process.
Often when materials like stainless steel or glass break off from machinery.
Health authorities continue to monitor the situation.
They recommend that consumers who have purchased any of the recalled Colby Jack Cheese products avoid consuming them and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, according to Hoy Diario.
Food safety remains a top priority, and actions like these aim to protect public health and uphold quality standards in the food industry.
